How it works
Simple scheduling, serious care.
Working with New England Speech & Swallow is designed to be as straightforward as possible for facility administrators and clinical staff. There is no insurance coordination or back-and-forth with a hospital department. Services are provided by Dr. Alyssa Llewelyn, SLPD, CCC-SLP — a Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology, one of the few in the region with that level of clinical training.
Step 01
Reach out to schedule
Contact us by phone or email with the number of patients you'd like seen and a general sense of their needs. We'll discuss the appropriate services and set up an initial visit time.
Step 02
We visit your facility
On the scheduled day, we arrive with all necessary equipment. We coordinate with nursing staff, review patient charts, obtain consent, and see each patient in turn — at bedside or in a common area.
Step 03
Documentation delivered
Reports and dietary recommendations are completed and delivered to the facility within one business day.
Step 04
Ongoing visits as needed
For facilities with ongoing needs, we can establish a regular visit schedule — weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly — based on your patient census. Billing is direct to the facility.
What we provide
Services available on-site.
FEES Exams
Bedside flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing. Multiple patients can be seen on the scheduled day. No transport, no radiation, results available same day.
Speech-Language Evaluation
Initial evaluation of communication or swallowing function, including standardized assessment and clinical observation. Completed at bedside with a written report.
Ongoing Speech Therapy
Treatment sessions for patients with established diagnoses — dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria, voice, cognitive-communication. Frequency determined by clinical need.
Staff Education
In-service training for nursing and care staff on safe feeding techniques, diet texture modification, and recognizing signs of aspiration. Available on request.
Billing & payment
Direct billing. No insurance required.
We bill directly to the facility on a per-visit or contractual basis. Because of this direct billing, no insurance is required and care is simpler.
This arrangement is well-suited to skilled nursing facilities whose residents are past their Medicare Part A benefit period, private-pay assisted living communities, and any setting where timely access to evaluation is a priority.
Payment structure
- Per-visit rate (evaluation or therapy session)
- Monthly contract rates available for ongoing service
- Direct invoice to facility billing department
Who we work with
The right fit for your community.
Skilled Nursing Facilities
SNFs are our most common facility partner. We can serve residents across the continuum — from acute rehabilitation to long-term care — on a schedule that works with your staffing and patient flow.
Assisted Living Communities
Residents who develop swallowing or communication difficulties often lack access to on-site speech-language pathology. We fill that gap — with bedside FEES exams and speech therapy — without requiring transfer to a higher level of care.
Memory Care Communities
Dysphagia is prevalent in dementia. We work with memory care staff to evaluate swallowing safety, make dietary recommendations, and train staff on safe feeding strategies.
Hospitals & Acute Care
We can provide FEES evaluation for acute care patients who need timely swallowing assessment, particularly when in-house SLP services have scheduling constraints.
